The Theatre on Chester is a community theatre in North Epping – on Chester Street, of course. It was established in 1956 and has built a devoted fanbase thanks to the theatre’s consistently impressive productions.
It takes passion and dedication to stay afloat in the local theatre scene, with over 10 community theatres in the City of Parramatta council alone. Luckily, the director of the theatre, Carla Moore, is bursting at the seams with passion and dedication.
Moore is rather particular about the productions her theatre will, and will not, take on. Theatre on Chester and its committee keep their finger on the pulse to produce routinely captivating shows.
Of course, the unwavering quality of their productions can’t be attributed to the committee alone. The charming crowd of talented volunteer actors, lighting, stage, and costume designers is the lifeblood of this theatre.
Listen to Carla Moore recap some of the theatre’s technical feats, and what makes a play worth producing.
