If you haven’t met the love of your life yet, we’ve put together a modern guide for the Sydney Gal to meet someone without dating apps.
Don’t take our word for it though.
Try it yourself.
No.1: Join a group fitness gym
Not your average gym memberships, these class gyms are designed for you to interact with others. If you are too shy to attend by yourself bring along a friend. And if you don’t meet the love of your life, I guarantee you won’t regret getting fit!
OUR PICK: The Yard Gym – has a variety of locations across NSW and most locations offer a free trial if you have commitment issues.
No.2: Thursday late-night shopping
This is one of the most underrated places to meet someone. The pros? You get an insight to someone’s shopping habits and ideas of where they like to shop or, more importantly, hinting where you do. You’ll find me in Dior, Chanel or Christian Louboutin. Nothing like a bit of retail therapy if we don’t find the love of our life.
OUR PICK – Sydney CBD Westfield
No.3: Libraries
Lockdown had a lot of businesses jump on the WFH trend but if you are like me, you are probably a little bit over talking to your two dogs all day. Your local library offers free book borrowing, complimentary Wi-Fi and honestly it’s definitely a green tick anyone who reads, especially self-development books.
OUR PICK: Customs House Library – why not head upstairs for a drink at Cafe Sydney while you are there?
No.4: IRL dating events
This concept is really cool. Basically an event that sells a limited amount of tickets for both males and females to keep the ratio even. No awkward moments as you’ll know everyone’s single. Make a night of it and invite all your single friends!
OUR PICK: Thursday. They have at least four events a month at different venues so that’s PLENTY of options.
No.5: Airport business lounges
This one is definitely top tier and perfect for those who are looking to date outside their city, think interstate or international for all you long-distance lovers. Airport business lounges usually have an annual fee or you can pay per visit (or if you are a frequent flyer like me it’s FREE). There are also perks like complimentary food and drinks. Who said you can’t catch flights AND feelings.
OUR PICK: Virgin Business Lounge, located at most Australian Domestic Airports.
