Things to do in Spring

By Jarrah Reynolds @JayReynoldsAU

Are you a student and looking for activities to do in Sydney? At TAFE Media we’ve got you covered with some of our favourite things to do this month that won’t break the bank.

Hot Chocolate

What better way to warm yourself up than sipping on a beautiful hot chocolate that can surely brighten your day. Get ready to explore the wonderful cafes of Sydney. This is at the top of my list as I always like to try new places and it’s something to enjoy no matter where you are. Check out this link for some of the best places to get your hot chocolate:

The Australian Museum

Visiting the Australian Museum is a must-see attraction for any student. Indulge yourself in some of the most spectacular history in our country including giant fossilised skeletons of dinosaurs that once dominated the earth. What makes this place ideal is free general admission so you don’t have to spend anything for a fun day out.

Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival

Located at the Auburn Botanic Gardens we have the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival approaching. Celebrate Japanese culture and enjoy this beautiful time of year. The delicious food and live music makes it the perfect atmosphere for a day out. The event will be held from Saturday 17th August to Sunday 25th August – make sure to book your tickets online:

Hiking

For students looking to stay active and enjoy the outdoors before summer arrives, hiking is a perfect option. One highly recommended trail is the Bradleys Head Trail. This scenic route offers great views of Sydney Harbour and is easily accessible via public transport. This is an ideal month for hiking as the cooler temperatures provide a comfortable environment while still being able to push yourself.

Going to the movies to watch one of the latest blockbusters can be a very rewarding experience. It’s a great way to unwind with your friends after a long day at TAFE or uni. Be sure to show your student card at the kiosk or take advantage of more student discounts for an even better deal. Here are some nearby cinemas and their student prices.

Ice Skating

Learn a new skill and give ice skating a go. This is the perfect activity to try when you want to cool off but still do something physical. Take your friends on one of your days off from TAFE and enter from Monday – Friday between 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM and bring your student card for a sweet discount at Macquarie Ice Skating Rink.
