Get lost in the maze

By Josh Bianchi

The Maze Runner by James Dashner is a thrilling novel that immediately grabs the reader’s attention with suspense and mystery.

The book follows Thomas, a teenage boy who suddenly finds himself in a strange and unfamiliar environment surrounded by people who seem to understand far more than he does. As the story unfolds Thomas becomes determined to understand the secrets of the place he is trapped in.

One of the strong parts of Maze Runner is the suspense. Dashner slowly reveals minor details that keep the readers on edge without giving too much away too quickly. The fast pace and constant sense of danger make it especially appealing for readers who enjoy action, science fiction and mystery novels.

The characters are another highlight of the book. Thomas is easy to connect with from the reader’s perspective because they are just as confused as Thomas. It leaves the readers asking questions and trying to make sense of everything happening.

The friendships and teamwork between the group adds emotion to the story and shows how important trust can be in difficult situations.

Although the beginning can be confusing this actually can become one of the book’s strengths because it is a puzzle in itself – steering readers in multiple directions.

Overall, The Maze Runner is an exciting and suspenseful read that keeps readers interested from beginning to end. It is highly recommended for teenagers who like a book that keeps them guessing.
